The research was conducted as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in order to determine the
induced abortion of women. The sample of the study consisted of 210 women who had induced
abortion in Gaziantep Province Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Family Planning Polyclinic.
An interview form including information about socio-demographic variables, fertility
characteristics, and voluntary abortion was used to collect data. The data were evaluated by percentage, arithmetic mean, chi-square test. In the research; It was
determined that 27.6% of the women were in the 35-39 age group and their average age was
33.5±0.44, 61.9% had a first-induced abortion and 41.4% had abortion due to financial
insufficiency. The relationship between age, duration of marriage, number of pregnancies, number
of desired children, termination of previous pregnancy, gender preference during pregnancy and the
number of induced abortions were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). While the vast
majority of pre-abortion women were protected by withdrawal, the rate of effective method use
increased after abortion. Knowing the cause of abortion is effective in preventing abortion s. It is
important to prevent recurrent abortion s with applications for women to use post-abortion methods.
