PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE PRESENTATION OF THE MAIN TELEVISION NEWS BULLETINS

Abstract

Main news bulletins are programs that appear in the evening slot during the most watched hours on
television and are considered as indicators of reputation by TV organizations. News programs are a
big team effort, with broadcast managers behind the camera, news editors, technical team, and news
presenters, reporters, and sign language translators, who are the last link in the news chain and
deliver the television news in front of the camera to the audience. Television news power; It is
based on news personalities consisting of presenters, reporters and cameramen. The purpose of this
study is to examine the presenters, reporters, sign language translators and voice-overs who voice
news images broadcast on mainstream television channels and in the main news bulletins, in terms
of their gender, appearance and presentation style. These channels; There are eight channels in total:
FOX, ATV, KANAL D, BEYAZ, STAR, Kanal 7, SHOW, TRT 1. The sample of the study; It
consists of four main news bulletins for each channel, 32 in total, and 571 news items in these
bulletins. The main news bulletins on mainstream television channels broadcasting in Turkey were
evaluated using quantitative data analysis methods.
