Abstract

Turkish citizens who heavily migrated to Germany approximately sixty years ago lived in the feeling of “the bitterness
of homesickness” and many of them still experience that feeling. They not only carried the burden of homesickness but
also had to struggle with the social and cultural problems that have arisen over time. And the social discrepancies due to
the deficiencies in education are among the primary problems.
This study scrutinizes the problems of Turkish young people living in Germany after migration as well as their
difficulties in the acquisition of the mother language and their social problems.
The problems such as failing to graduate from the schools they started, failing to have a good job in the future and being
dependent on the family (unemployment) drag Turkish young people increasingly into a deadlock and depression.
This situation pushes them out in the society and causes them to become an irritable youth. Both German and Turkish
societies are disturbed by this negative process.
However, Turkish young people who grow up and live in Europe have the talent to advance to the most efficient and
productive positions in case they use their intelligence and they are given the opportunity. Today, they show their talent
in various sectors.
In order for the Turkish migrant youth to be able to find a way to succeed, their families must first consciously guide
them, and they should be supported by consulates (general) and NGOs. These topics are discussed in this study. On the
other hand, the opinions and reviews stated here are based on my own experience and observation in Germany.
