INTERACTION OF GLOBAL AND REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS DYNAMICS: TÜRKİYE’S GLOBAL AND REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS ANALYSIS

Competition is the struggle of players in markets against each other, shaping prices, quality and innovations and promoting economic efficiency and growth. With globalization, competition has gained a different position and the concepts of global and regional competition have emerged. The relationship between regional and global competition has a significant impact on a country's international strategies and objectives. Regional competition can affect the dynamics of global competition and global competition can shape regional strategies and determine the balance of economic and political power at both levels.
This study aims to reveal the interaction of regional and global competition dynamics, to analyze the economic, political and strategic consequences of these interactions, and to reveal the effects of these relations on country strategies. In this context, Türkiye's global and regional competitiveness index calculation has been made by using the Regional Competitiveness Index and Global Competitiveness Index calculation methods. On a global scale, Türkiye scored between 61 and 51 points between 2018 and 2022. On a regional scale, the Istanbul Region ranked first with 0.82 points and the Northeastern Anatolia Region ranked last with 0.08 points. At the end of the study, Türkiye's regional innovative policies such as clustering, priority regions for development, regional network systems, technology development zones, and organized industrial zones increase local innovation capacity and support strategic adaptation for competitive advantage in global markets. At the end of the study, it is seen that it is regional competitiveness that feeds global competitiveness.
