Fires that break out in historical buildings cause great damage and loss of life on the building, but
also destroy our culture and traces of the past. For this reason, it is important to ensure fire safety in
historical buildings. It guides us about the causes of the fires in history, the damages that have
occurred, the measures to be taken and the dimensions of the risks. In the study, it is aimed to make
suggestions by determining the difficulties to be encountered during the taking of fire safety
measures in an existing historical building. Accordingly, a fire project was prepared by evaluating a
selected building. In renovation and repair processes, there are limitations depending on the intervention to be made to the building, and additional stairs or modifications are often not allowed.
This situation should only be determined by interdisciplinary studies with the support of the
relevant institutions in case of analysis regarding benefit and loss. The fires experienced and the fire
regulations serve as guides in this regard. However, it is often impossible to validate the regulations
created for existing buildings for historical buildings. Whether the regulation is suitable for a
historical building or not should be determined as a result of risk analyzes to be made for each
building and reports prepared in line with expert opinions.
