Abstract

The ideas of nationalism that emerged after the French Revolution in the Romantic Period had a
great impact on the old world countries, especially in the European continent. These effects were
also reflected in the branches of art, and the peoples living in the multinational states started to
transfer the cultural effects of their races to their works of art.
In the first part of this prepared study, the music and forms of Hungarian people living in the
Austro-Hungarian Empire affected by the French Revolution are mentioned. By considering the
regional changes and structures of Hungarian music, it was aimed to reveal the differences
according to German music.
In the second part of the study, firstly the details of Rhapsody type music were mentioned, and then
Franz Liszt's examination of Hungarian Rhapsodies in terms of common points and ethnic aspects
was included.
