THEORETICAL STUDY ON LEADERSHIP IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Abstract

Individuals and civilisations are facing many changes and transitions. The idea of Society 5.0,
announced by the Japanese in 2016, represents the final stage of technological development and the
birth of changes that began with the emergence of Industry 4.0 in 2011. The basis of this concept is
technological development and changes. It increases the welfare of people. The concept of digital
transformation involves a production-oriented approach that affects all aspects of the company's
operations, technology and people. To effectively adopt and integrate technology, companies need
to direct resources not only to acquiring new technologies, but also to developing a technologyoriented mindset in the workforce and a positive attitude towards technological development.
Digital innovations, especially those emerging in today's society, can be uncovered, developed and
effectively integrated into organisational structures, which can change the fundamental principles
and cultural dynamics of companies. Some perspectives on this issue draw attention to the
relationship between digitalisation and organisational culture, suggesting that companies
undergoing digital transformation and using information and communication technologies should
re-evaluate their organisational culture. Organisations that adopt and use a digital organisational
culture demonstrate greater adaptability and flexibility, allowing them to effectively navigate the
fast pace of digitalisation and quickly resolve organisational challenges. In addition, the
implementation of digital transformation strategies allows companies to maintain their
competitiveness by adapting to rapidly changing conditions, using technology competently and
engaging stakeholders.
