INVESTIGATION OF TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURE IN ALANYA AND DETERMINATION OF OPTIMUM HOTEL WITH TOPSIS

Abstract

The number of domestic and foreign tourists who want to get away from the tiring program of the modern world and
have vacation in Alanya, which is in the foreground with its natural landscape, unique climate and rich history, is
increasing day by day. Because of the developing tourism infrastructure and logistical facilities, Alanya has been
heavily flocked by tourists every month of the year. Therefore, the importance of investments and researches to support
the development of tourism, which is one of the valuable resources of economic life in the region, is increasing.
This study was conducted in order to compare the Boutique / Apart Hotels and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 star hotels operating in the
Alanya province and select the most suitable hotel. Towards this goal, benchmarking criterias were determined after
firstly a detailed literature search. Then it has been accessed to Tripadvisor, Etstur and Trivago web sites to reach the
visitors reviews / comments about the hotel and the prices of the hotels. In the direction of the data obtained from these
sites, the most suitable hotel was selected using the TOPSIS method among the 111 hotels.
Findings show that the best hotel is not the cheapest hotel. It is thought that the research will be beneficial for tourism
entrepreneurs and researchers. For future researches it is suggested that this study method can be applied in different
areas across countries and world to make comparisons
