Abstract

This study includes the thoughts of the Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322), the first historian of philosophy and the founder of the distinction of sciences, showing how she handled “history” in her work titled “Poetics”, which is about art. Aristotle divides the sciences into three as theoretical, practical and poetic, a distinction that continues to be largely effective today. hus, he provided a basis for the distinction between sciences by revealing their characteristics of being sciences, the basic principles on which they are based, the methods they will use and the goals they will ultimately achieve. The fact that he did not include “history” in his classification of sciences in his Metaphysics work, and that he said that "history" was in a lower position than poetry in his Poetics, helped the thinkers after him to form the idea that he did not have any thoughts about “history”, and if he did, he had a negative view on this subject.

In this study, based on Aristotle's work Poetics, which is the basis for the emergence of the idea that his view of “history” is negative, contrary to what he stated in Poetics, with the way he uses “history” in grounding the sciences; It aims to show that he has important thoughts about “history” and attaches great importance to “history”.
